This, and the phrase "open back up to God" were very revealing to me. Before that night, I don't recall having had many significant thoughts about God, but I must have had at least a few.
A much earlier childhood memory gives another clue. I had just watched a famous Hollywood religious drama that often used to be shown at Easter. I still remember being very affected by it. I discussed this with my parents, but I don't recall what they replied. God was not an everyday topic at our house, so maybe the conversation made them slightly uncomfortable.
I've now been wondering when it was that God first began drawing me to Himself. I'm not likely to find this out until the Lord tells me about it in person someday, but I'm pretty sure He can't wait to tell me. I suspect He has many sweet secrets to tell each of us privately one day.
Isaiah 43 (end of verse 1) says, "I have called you by name; you are Mine!" How beautiful to think that, even before we could hear Him, He was whispering our names to us.
