This is a bittersweet post. It's from a place very deep inside me, where my heart has been touched by God's heart and has been broken. Broken not in a way that takes me into darkness, but in a way that lets His light in.
A while back, I shared a music video of the hymn "I Stand Amazed." I am sharing it again today, because this morning I really am standing amazed at Jesus the Nazarene, and really am wondering how He could love me, a sinner -- condemned, unclean. Not just that He would love me and die for me, but that He would allow me to see what most people on the face of the earth have either not seen or have tragically misunderstood. There is a beautiful world full of lies out there.
Here is the song again -- "I Stand Amazed (How Marvellous)," recorded in 1993 at Franconia Mennonite Church, Telford, Pennsylvania.* Again, apologies for the ad at the beginning, if there is one.
I Stand Amazed
*More information on this hymn is found in the June 10, 2014, post where I first shared this video with you.
P.S. I just discovered that "Autoplay" is now the default on YouTube: other videos it thinks are related will begin after the one you're playing ends. Solution: You will see a check mark next to "Autoplay" at the top of the right-hand column. Click it. This will clear the check mark, which should disable this intrusive feature. (It may be necessary to click it again if the check mark reappears right away.)
