Sometimes we can let go of something, but it takes years to unload the baggage attached to it. I've been through that with other kinds of issues: old wounds, for example. Some old wounds are so multi-layered, the attached baggage could keep Samsonite in business for decades. Jesus isn't in a hurry. As I heard Beth Moore say recently, it's part of Jesus' job description to bind up our wounds, but this is a slow process: it takes time to wrap someone's wounds.
Also in my previous post, I didn't connect the dots between Jesus' broken body, yielded for us, and my own yielding of issues to Him. Of course, my yielding and brokenness before Him is not on a par with the yielding and brokenness He went through on my behalf. But it's all He wants from me in return. It's also all I have that's of any use to Him. (John 15)
