3 Omnia per ipsum facta sunt : et sine ipso factum est nihil, quod factum est,
4 in ipso vita erat, et vita erat lux hominum: 5 et lux in tenebris lucet, et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
(John 1:1-5)
If the image and text above look familiar, it may be because I posted them, without commentary, several years ago on the Praise reflections page. I'm posting them again today because this beautiful photo is currently on my desktop, and just now I found myself fixated on the beginning of verse 3, Omnia per ipsum facta sunt. (All things came into being through Him.) All things came into being through Him! Through Jesus: the One whose breath gives breath; the One who can make an enslaved sinner into a redeemed, forgiven saint; the One who can take the most ruined life and transform it into His own sweet story of victory. This is the One in whom I have put all my trust. |
