Not two days ago on the "Praise reflections" page, I posted a brilliant quotation by Oswald Chambers about loyalty to Jesus in daily life. The statement I've put in italics strikes me as the very core of things:
"God saves a man and endues him with the Holy Spirit, and then says in effect – 'Now work it out, be loyal to Me, whilst the nature of things round about you would make you disloyal.' 'I have called you friends.' Stand loyal to your Friend, and remember that His honour is at stake in your bodily life." |
I can't divulge the details of the moral dilemma (it has to do with a task I signed on to do), but I'm intrigued that God would throw me into it. Apparently He knows I am friend enough to stand loyal to Him. I can therefore ignore the mocking I hear from His enemy as I sort out how best to use this predicament to honour my priceless Friend. This test is not one He has put me in to determine whether I am His friend. It's a refinement by fire, giving me a chance to demonstrate how much I love my Friend.
There's no way out; I'm forced to walk through this fire. Walk I will, then, asking Him to give me courage, clarity, and the strength to be true to who I am in Christ. Most of all, I ask Him to turn this moral quandry into an opportunity for me to greatly honour and uplift Him. It's not going to be easy. It's more along the lines of impossible.
:)
(Smiling because I know this "not going to be easy, more along the lines of impossible" is His signature. He has an agenda here.)
