Mark 16: 1-6
Although Jesus' earthly followers spent years alongside Him, they seem never to have quite understood what He had come to do, nor what would happen to Him. Yet apparently all heaven understood. Notice what the young man (presumably an angel) said to the women as they approached the tomb: Do not be amazed... He has risen; He is not here. He says it matter-of-factly. He may even have been quite puzzled and shocked by their bewilderment and amazement. I can almost hear him wondering, "How could they not have known He would rise from the dead? Did He not say so? Do they not know who He is?"
Do we know who He is? If so, then let us praise and serenade Him, for He our glorious King, and He is risen! Let us, His church, live in such awe and praise of Him that all heaven will see that we know He is alive and has given Himself to us.
I want to serenade the Lord Jesus this Easter afternoon with some music that's a bit off the beaten track -- not your typical church choir. I discovered this young Christian singing group this week, and I find them and their sound delightful. You may or may not. However, that young angel who sat by the tomb would have no difficulty recognizing them as believers. Their praise and love for the Lord Christ radiates in their voices and on their faces.
