I can't find the transcript anymore; I don't even know what sermon it belonged to. So apparently what mattered to the Lord was for me to read Alistair's comment (that he reads extensively from Sinclair Ferguson's work), then to go exploring.
I found a number of works by Dr. Ferguson, as well as a vast number of his sermons: over 600 on one particular site, in fact, so it's quite possible I won't even have worked my way through the whole series by the time the Lord calls me home.
I decided to begin listening in chronological order. Amazingly, the first two date back to 1991. I will post them here without comment, except to say that this is a man I want the Lord to use to teach me. Two things in particular have already leapt out to me about Sinclair Ferguson: one, he speaks with unusual insight into the character and ministry of the Holy Spirit, and two, I want to glean everything I can from this man about prayer. This second thing I decided just from hearing him speak and pray. Imagine, having that be one of the first things someone observes about you -- here is a person who has a deeply intimate prayer relationship with the Lord.
Anyway, here is the two-part introduction I had myself to Sinclair B. Ferguson. I share it with you, for the Lord's use and to His glory.
